    Purpose

    This position is responsible for providing a range of direct and indirect professional counseling services for Boise State students, faculty and staff within the scope of services offered by Counseling Services. Direct services include treatment for the full range of mental conditions, to include some complex mental disorders. Treatment modalities include individual, multi-person, group counseling, crisis intervention, and psychological assessment.  Indirect services include case management, supervision, consultation, collaboration with departments across campus, outreach/preventive programming.

    Level Scope

    Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity.  Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action.  May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Masters in Counseling, Social-Work, or Psychology.

    Must be a registered supervisor in the state of Idaho.

    Requires a license as a Clinical Mental Health Professional.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Clinical/Counseling – Knowledge, awareness, skills and experience related to providing individual, multi person and group counseling; multicultural competence/humility, empathy, advance listening skills, problem solving, wide repertoire of intervention strategies, knowledge of ethical principles, mastery of personal and interpersonal and interpersonal dynamics, assessment skills, strong diagnosis skills, thorough understanding of abnormal behavior/psychopathology, experience/ knowledge working on a highly integrated clinical team.
    • Supervision – Knowledge, awareness, skills, and experience related to professional training in the field of psychology, counseling, and/or social work, leadership modeling, ethical guidelines, state statutes, professional development, training models.
    • Consultation – proactive, flexible, open communication style, solution-focused, relationship building skills.
    • Teaching – competency in a wide variety of psychology topical areas, teaching expertise.
    • Crisis management – maintain up-to-date skills related to high risk populations and community resources in mental health, case management skills based on relevant knowledge and principles of case management.

    Essential Functions

    Key Responsibilities

    60 % of Time Counselor, Licensed Professional will:

    • Provide direct clinical services to clients/patients through: crisis intervention, safety assessments, coordination of emergency interventions and resources.
    • Collaborate and consult with behavioral/mental health, psychiatric and medical providers and others.
    • Documentation of clinical services, collaborate with other Health Services providers and community to best manage clinical caseload and ensure effective treatment.
    • Provide Crisis intervention and triage coverage/consultation to students and other members of the university community.
    • Manage CARE reports.
    • Maintain electronic medical and other records, including registries for high risk clients/patients.

    35% of Time Counselor, Licensed Professional:

    5% of Time Counselor, Licensed Professional:

    Perform other duties as assigned

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    Some positions may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels and require wearing hearing protection
