Join the Intermountain Bird Observatory crew for a morning of songbird banding at our beautiful Diane Moore Nature Center on the Boise River! Our trained biologists will be catching, banding, and releasing wild songbirds all morning as part of our standardized fall migration monitoring protocol.
This project is fueled by donations from visitors like you. Thank you!
Please plan to bring cash or check if you’d like to make a donation. A $5 donation per guest would be greatly appreciated.
All ages are welcome. This site is somewhat wheelchair/walker accessible (but please contact us ahead of time for details so that we can accommodate you).
Depending on how many birds we catch, visitors will be able to help release the birds by holding out their hand as a release platform.
Registration is limited. We will use a waitlist system to notify you if a slot becomes available. If you cannot attend, please be courteous and cancel so that someone else can use your slot.
We may close our nets early or not open the station if the weather is bad (too windy, rainy, hot, or cold). Be sure to register to visit so we can notify you of any scheduling changes.
