{"id":46310,"date":"2021-07-26T14:57:56","date_gmt":"2021-07-26T20:57:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/ibo\/?p=46310"},"modified":"2026-08-25T18:05:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T00:05:11","slug":"2021-fall-banding-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/ibo\/2021\/07\/26\/2021-fall-banding-open\/","title":{"rendered":"2021 Fall Banding Projects Open to the Public"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re excited to announce that our fall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/ibo\/get-involved\/banding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">banding projects<\/a> are open to the public, with some precautions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Songbird, Diurnal Raptor, and Owl banding projects are open for visitors at our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/ibo\/science\/lucky\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lucky Peak Research Station<\/a>. Small groups of daytime visitors are welcome to drop in any time. Groups larger than 10, or groups of any size who want to camp overnight will need to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/ibo\/science\/lucky\/fallvisitors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">register in advance<\/a>. For more information on when and how to visit, check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/ibo\/science\/lucky\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lucky Peak project page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Boise River <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/ibo\/science\/river\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Research Station<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/ibo\/river\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Diane Moore Nature Center<\/a> is open for school field trips and select public dates through September and October. New dates will be posted on our <a href=\"http:\/\/intermountainbirdobservatory.eventbrite.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eventbrite<\/a> page as they are scheduled. Be sure to <a href=\"http:\/\/intermountainbirdobservatory.eventbrite.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">register in advance<\/a> to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we continue to recover from the pandemic, we\u2019ve worked with Boise State to implement safety protocols for all visitors in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-covid-updates\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">COVID updates:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please reschedule your visit if you have a fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, or other symptoms, or if you have had recent close contact with someone showing these symptoms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UPDATE 9\/22: Boise State has updated their masking policy for outdoor events. Since we cannot maintain constant social-distancing during visits to our banding station, we now request that visitors (regardless of vaccination status) wear a mask when in the amphitheater surrounding our banding yurt at Lucky Peak, while near the banding table at the Diane Moore Nature Center, and while on net runs.<br><br>Our crew have all completed COVID screenings or have a vaccination exemption. Our scientists cannot wear masks while banding birds since we have to blow on their feathers to collect the data we need for monitoring. When releasing birds with visitors and while on net runs they will mask up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visitors should continue to\u00a0<strong>physically distance<\/strong> themselves from others when possible. This is an outdoor station with plenty of room to spread out around the banding station. Please respect other visitors\u2019 personal space, and respect staff-only boundaries at our station.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We are thrilled to be able to host visitors again!
