2025 Western Society of Kinesiology and Wellness Conference

Kinesiology had a great showing at the Western Society of Kinesiology and Wellness (WSKW) conference! This Annual Conference took place October 8th – 10th, celebrating its 70th year as an organization.
The School of Kinesiology won the Boot for having the most students and faculty in attendance at the conference! Clay Swanson, PhD and Assistant Professor of the School of Kinesiology also presented on his research titled: “Enhancing mobility in older adults: A pilot home-based tDCS and Motor Imagery Intervention.”
Additionally, kinesiology undergraduate student, Abbie Richards, and associate professor, Laura Petranek, PhD, associate professor and assistant divisional dean for the School of Kinesiology, were awarded for their Outstanding Posters at the conference.
The following is their respective awards and outstanding scholarship and research:
- Abbie Richards – “Outstanding Student Poster – Original Research,” for her project on “The impact of Krav Maga on motor skill development and social skills of 4-6 year olds.”
- Laura Petranek, PhD – “Outstanding Faculty Poster Award,” for her “service learning work with the Children’s school and teaching motor learning.”
