About the Conference
The School of Kinesiology at Boise State University is excited to invite you to the 2026 AASP Pacific Northwest Regional Conference on April 17–18, 2026. This event is a great way to connect, learn, and grow within the field of sport and exercise psychology, bringing together students, professionals, and leading experts to explore innovative research, practical applications, and emerging trends shaping the discipline.
The conference will feature poster sessions, oral presentations, interactive workshops, and keynote speakers. With a special emphasis on student development, the program includes sessions designed to support academic growth, professional skill-building, and career exploration. Attendees will engage in meaningful discussions, exchange knowledge, and strengthen their applied skills across diverse presentation formats. Networking events and socials will further help participants build community and connections across institutions.

Early registration is closed. However, late registration is open and is a flat $60 cost. If you do late register, please email Eric Martin at ericmmartin@boisestate.edu to let him know you have registered so he can update the conference attendee list.

Keynote Speakers

Dr. Nicole Detling
Owner Headstrong Consulting LLC
Dr. Nicole Detling is a mental performance coach with more than 28 years of experience helping athletes, performers, and organizations perform under pressure. She holds a PhD in sport psychology, completed a prestigious internship at the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center, and is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC). Nicole is the owner of HeadStrong Consulting and has worked with athletes from youth to elite levels, including Olympic and Paralympic medalists, world champions, and professionals across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, PGA, and MLS. Her experience includes serving as a fully credentialed member of Team USA at the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Games, leading mental performance programs for multiple national teams, and consulting with organizations ranging from federal agencies to Fortune-level companies. A sought-after speaker and media expert, Nicole has appeared on NBC, NPR, The Olympic Channel, and The Colbert Report, co-authored the book Don’t Leave Your Mind Behind, and co-hosts the Becoming HeadStrong podcast.

Dr. Jen Wallin-Ruschman
Professor at College of Idaho
Dr. Jen Wallin-Ruschman is a Professor of Psychology and the Chair of Community Engagement and Collaboration at The College of Idaho. As a community-based researcher, Jen’s focus shifts based on the community’s strengths and identified needs. Her approach to research is rooted in respect for multiple ways of knowing and the experiences of research participants. Jen employs qualitative and participatory methods, and for the past few years, her work has centered on Youth Mental Health in Canyon County.
