Scott Moorcroft

Clinical Associate Professor, Director Master of Athletic Leadership Program

Dr. Scott Moorcroft

Dr. Moorcroft has been the Director of the Master of Athletic Leadership (MAL) Program at Boise State University since 2017 and also works as a Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Kinesiology. His work centers on developing reflective, values-driven leaders in sport and athletic contexts through applied learning, mentorship, and authentic professional practice.

Scott’s academic background in curriculum and instruction now guides his work as an adult learning architect, designing high-impact learning experiences that foster reflection, growth, and professional identity in real-world contexts. At Boise State, he teaches across graduate and undergraduate offerings in leadership, coaching, and practicum-based courses, guiding students as they integrate theory with real-world leadership challenges in athletics, education, and community organizations.

Professionally, Scott brings more than two decades of experience as a coach and sport program leader. He has served as a collegiate head coach, youth sport director, and coach developer, working closely with athletes, coaches, and organizations to build healthy, mission-driven sport environments. His scholarship and presentations focus on coach development, program design, and leadership learning in sport.

Scott is deeply committed to student growth, program innovation, and community engagement. He currently leads initiatives to expand pathways in sport leadership education at Boise State, including the development of a new undergraduate degree in Sport Management and Leadership and the Athletic Leadership Summer Conference.

Outside the classroom, Scott is a grateful father of 2 amazing daughters and a passionately average fly fisherman.
