Albertsons Library announces departure of Special Collections and Archives Head Cheryl Oestreicher

Albertsons Library announces the departure of Cheryl Oestreicher, professor and head of Special Collections and Archives, who is leaving after 13 years of service to Boise State University.

Oestreicher’s impact on Albertsons Library, and particularly within Special Collections and Archives, has been transformative. She embodied the library’s motto: “Connect. Create. Cultivate.”

During her tenure, Oestreicher was an advocate and dedicated mentor who forged numerous valuable partnerships on campus and in the community. Her efforts directly contributed to the collection’s growth, resulting in the acquisition of more than 100 local history collections. In recognition of her scholarship and leadership, Oestreicher was promoted to full professor in 2022. One of Oestreicher’s passions was university history.

Oestreicher’s dedication has left an indelible mark on Albertsons Library and Boise State University.

Members of the campus community are welcome to join Albertsons Library in a farewell gathering for Oestreicher on November 18, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Boise State’s Special Collections on the second floor of the library.
