Albertsons Library is moving to a new Library Services Platform (LSP) to create a more flexible and powerful system for discovery, circulation and account management. Core services, including circulation, discovery and the new catalog, will officially go live Thursday, June 4.
The new catalog, Locate, replaces Voyager, the current library services platform that has reached its end-of-life. It serves as the new central hub for physical resources, allowing users to search for materials and lendable technology, browse course reserves, manage accounts, monitor holds, renew items and view fines in one place.
The WorldCat Discovery Search is transitioning to the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS). This powerful discovery platform is designed to streamline research. EDS improves the research experience by offering integrated search results across a vast collection of print and electronic resources. When signing in using your Boise State Credentials, the integrated patron account allows for seamless tracking of loans, renewals and fines directly within the platform, a feature known as Patron Empowerment.
The move to the new system, built on the open-source FOLIO platform, is a major undertaking that involves changes to authentication and core library functions. On June 4, the library will officially switch from EZproxy to OpenAthens for authentication. Catalog and vendor links will be updated immediately, but existing proxy links in Canvas courses and other platforms will need to be updated gradually. Both EZProxy and OpenAthens will run simultaneously through the end of the year.
