Interim Provost Zeynep Hansen has announced the appointment of Michelle Armstrong as the interim dean of Albertsons Library, effective July 19, 2026. Armstrong will lead the library during the upcoming fall semester and transition period until a national search for a permanent dean is conducted.
A longtime leader within the university, Armstrong joined Boise State in 2005 and has served as associate dean of Albertsons Library since 2018. Throughout her tenure, she has been instrumental in leading university-wide research information management systems, including the development of the Boise State Experts Portal for faculty. Her previous leadership roles include heading the Scholarly Communications and Data Management unit and serving as a member of the library’s Research Data Management Group.
Armstrong also brings a proven track record of steering the library through organizational transitions, having previously served as interim dean from June 2021 to July 2022.
“I am deeply honored by the opportunity to serve as Interim Dean of Albertsons Library,” Armstrong said. “Every day I have the privilege of working with an extraordinarily talented and dedicated library faculty and staff who are committed to working alongside our students, faculty, and researchers to advance Boise State’s mission. Albertsons Library plays a vital role in the life of the university, and we look forward to continuing collaborating with colleagues across campus in fulfilling Boise State’s commitment to student success and serving Idaho.”
As the campus prepares for the upcoming fall semester and student welcome activities, Albertsons Library remains focused on serving as a critical academic resource and collaborative hub for Boise State students, faculty, and staff.
