Exhibition: "GI Joe and America: the G.I. Army 1940-1973"
November 9 - December 17
Although the G.I. Army and its distinctive look–drab olive field uniforms and steel pot helmets– encompasses a specific era of American military history, the image has persisted in American culture as a defining look of the United States Army. This exhibit explores how the G.I. Army that fought in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, has shaped our image of the American soldier as G.I. Joe.
