Today, there are over 24,000 students and over 3,000 faculty and staff.<\/p>\n<p>Originally established by the Episcopal Church, BJC became a public institution in 1939, a four-year school in 1965, and a university in 1974. All the students, staff, faculty, alumni, visitors, donors, and others who have walked the campus have helped the university grow and thrive.<\/p>\n<p>From students choosing the colors and mascot, to developing academic programs, to physical expansion, the first 90 years are only the beginning.
