Cheryl Oestreicher, professor and head of special collections and archives (SCA) at Albertsons Library<\/a>, was recently interviewed for Archives in Context<\/a>. The podcast features archivists who are pushing the profession in new directions and addressing current challenges. In this episode, Oestreicher emphasizes the importance of access to collections.<\/p>\n

“We want everyone to come in…archives really are for the public, and not just for specific people,” says Oestreicher about students, faculty and the community visiting SCA.<\/p>\n

Oestreicher discussed her book, Reference and Access for Archives and Manuscripts<\/em><\/a> (Society of American Archivists, 2020), the fourth volume in SAA\u2019s Archival Fundamentals Series III. The publication was awarded the SAA\u2019s 2021 Waldo Gifford Leland Award<\/a> for writing of superior excellence and usefulness in the fields of archival history, theory and practice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
