Public Relations

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Our Public Relations team tells the story of the department through informational campaigns, marketing, promotions, recruiting efforts, and events. This position requires you to be detail oriented, think creatively, work collaboratively, be innovative, and work with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong writing, interviewing, networking, and collaboration skills
  • Strong planning and time management skills
  • Experience with research, planning, and messaging
  • Experience with events planning and implementation
  • Experience with marketing and/or promotions
  • Experience with pitching proposals
  • Experience with campaign development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to work independently in coordination with a larger team on comprehensive projects
  • Ability to measure outcomes and evaluate effectiveness of public relations efforts
  • Familiar with collaboration tools (eg. Google applications, Trello)
  • Understanding of media relations
  • Understanding of social media strategies
  • Understanding of integrated communication
  • Understanding of public relations methods, strategies, tactics, and evaluation processes
  • Understanding of organizational identity management
  • Understanding of recruiting and outreach
  • Understanding of strategic messaging and informational campaigns

DUTIES:

  • Create opportunities for desired publics to develop and maintain connections to the department
  • Develop and maintain a strong departmental culture through consistent messaging across a variety of platforms
  • Support a sense of inclusion and belonging for incoming and current students, program alumni, program faculty, and the department administrative team
  • Work collaboratively to develop and implement informational campaigns
  • Assist in planning, promoting, and implementing program events
  • Work with the Social Media team to promote the program through social media and the website
  • Express the department’s identity by showcasing department, student, alumni, and faculty activities
