Semiconductor success"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-image wp-image--no-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-914 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/microelectronics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/831\/2024\/09\/image-300x200.png\" alt=\"Breadboard with colored buttons and LEDs connected to an Arduino\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/figure><p>Boise State University and Idaho Digital Learning Alliance (IDLA) have worked together to create the first of three semiconductor focused courses for secondary students &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/microelectronics\/2024\/05\/03\/high-school-course-brings-new-learning-opportunities-chip-chip-hooray\/\"><em>Chip, Chip, Hooray!<\/em><\/a> The course is geared towards 8th-10th grade students who are interested in learning about semiconductors.\u00a0 It focuses on basic circuitry design, semiconductor use across various industries, and career pathways for students to enter the semiconductor industry.<\/p>\n<p>This school year marks the launch of\u00a0<em>Chip, Chip, Hooray!.\u00a0<\/em>Our team anticipated enrolling 30 students at the start of this project, and have far exceeded that number with close to 130 students enrolled across Idaho for the Fall 2024 semester. Students represent all regions of the state, from New Meadows to Wendell and Montpelier to Parma. According to MER Institute&#8217;s Education Specialist, Hailey Lynch, &#8220;this demonstrates the interest and excitement surrounding the course, and the future it presents to students across the nation, as the curriculum is nationally aligned to NGSS and ISTE education standards.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_908\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-908\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-image wp-image--caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-908 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/microelectronics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/831\/2024\/09\/CCH-Logo-1.png\" alt=\"A cartoon-style illustration of a semiconductor chip with name of course\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-908\" class=\"wp-caption-text\" style=\"width: 500px\">Chip, Chip Hooray!!! Semiconductors 1<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>All materials are available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencontent.idahodigitallearning.org\/electives\/chip-chip-hooray-semiconductors-1\">Open Education Content Catalog<\/a> through IDLA, making it accessible to educators and students across the nation.
