First-Generation Graduates

Calling all trailblazers!

The First Forward Cording Ceremony is for students who are the first in their families to graduate from a 4 year institution. The ceremony includes keynotes by graduating first-generation students, remarks from our Vice President for Student Affairs and our Dean of Students.

Students are welcome to invite their families, friends and mentors to attend the celebration. During the cording, students can invite a person who helped them on their academic journey to cord them.

Following the cording, there will be a reception which includes food and cake and an opportunity for people to mingle and visit with each other.
