This summer, two College of Business and Economics students attended Harvard University’s Summer Venture in Management Program. Recent accountancy graduate Olivia Clizbe and economics and political science student and ASBSU president Isaac Celedon were accepted into the highly competitive program, which admits as few as 2.7% of applicants.
The week-long residential program is designed to give college juniors and seniors a firsthand look at life as a Harvard MBA student. The program introduces students to Harvard’s case-study approach to management, where they analyze real business dilemmas and make critical business decisions.
“This program was one of the most transformative leadership experiences of my life,” Celedon said. “I never considered nor explored the idea of going into any business program until I attended [Summer Venture in Management Program]. Each day, we were immersed in thought-provoking lectures, discussion groups, and inspirational talks from business leaders and current students at Harvard Business School. I also want to thank the Boise State College of Business and Economics for providing financial support to attend this program. This support didn’t just fund a trip, it helped me envision myself as a future business leader.”
Students apply to the program and are chosen based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and impact on their community – like serving in student government, volunteering or athletic leadership.
“Throughout the program, I engaged in thought provoking case studies, participated in dynamic discussions, and connected with a diverse and talented group of peers and mentors from all over the world,” Clizbe said. “The experience deepened my understanding of business strategy, strengthened my leadership skills, and reaffirmed the power of collaboration and diverse perspectives.”
Clizbe will begin her Master of Accountancy at Vanderbilt University this fall. Celedon is set to graduate from Boise State in spring of 2026. Nick Lloyd, another recent College of Business and Economics graduate, attended the program in 2024.
