Kirsten Furlong, a lecturer in the Department of Art, Design and Visual Studies and director of the Blue Galleries, is featured in a Boise City Department of Arts and History exhibition titled “American Contradictions: A Boise Visual Chronicle Exhibition.” The exhibition is open until January 2026 in the Erma Hayman House near River St. just west of downtown Boise.
Furlong’s work examines the ecological and poetic bonds made with animals, plants and insects on lands inhabited collectively from the viewpoint of a mixed race (Black/white) woman in the American West.
Other artists featured at the exhibition include Anne Peterson, Devon Smith, Grace McJack, Heather Whitt, Margaret Pope, Mongina Cole and Samantha Archide.
