A Mid-semester Assessment Process allows instructors to assess their teaching and gauge how and what students are learning in a particular course while the semester is still in progress.
New for Fall 2025, the Center for Teaching and Learning now offers instructors two tracks:
- The Learning Experience Mid-semester Assessment Process is designed to better understand students’ learning experience in a course. Their feedback on the instructor’s instructional choices and pedagogical decisions will help the instructor improve the course by building on effective teaching methods and materials, and by addressing challenges to students’ learning.
- The Course Experience Mid-semester Assessment Process is designed to better understand students’ experiences within the classroom environment. This assessment focuses on key areas such as classroom community, sense of belonging and growth mindset, as influenced by their interactions with their peers and the instructor.
Each track includes two rounds of student feedback (mid-semester and near the end of the semester), followed by two consultations with a Center for Teaching and Learning representative to better support and enhance teaching in real time.
