Professional linguists Marc Okrand, who created the Klingon language for Star Trek, and Paul Frommer, who created Na’vi for Avatar, spoke at Boise State on Oct. 9 in an on-stage interview with linguistics chair Michal Temkin Martinez.

Leading up to the event, the panelists spoke to local CBS2 News and Idaho Matters. CBS2 News also published a post-event writeup.

The linguists spoke about their experiences as academics in Hollywood, the process of creating languages, and how their constructed languages have changed over the years. They also took audience questions from students, faculty and community members in attendance.

University Television Productions broadcast the event live and the recording is available now on their YouTube channel.
