Open house for Children’s Center kindergarten class Nov. 6

The Children’s Center will host an open house for those interested in enrolling in their 2026-27 kindergarten class. The drop-in event will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 in the center’s kindergarten classroom, room 112. The event is for grown-ups only, please.

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the current kindergarten teacher and hear more about:

  • Curriculum: UFLI Literacy and Illustrative Math
  • Weaving together a developmentally appropriate, play-based approach and academic skills
  • Responsive teaching vs. rushing through

Additional information

  • All children who are 5 by Oct. 31, 2026 are welcome to join the kindergarten class, and there must be at least 10 children in order for the class to operate during the 2026-2027 school year. The classroom is filled on a first come first serve basis.
  • The kindergarten classroom operates in partnership with Boise State’s College of Education and hosts student teachers training to be licensed teachers, allowing for very low child to teacher ratios. The goal is to keep enrollment low in the classroom (10-12 children) to support best practices in the early years.
  • Feel free to share open house information with friends and neighbors as kindergarten is the only class at the Children’s Center where children who do not have university-affiliated parents can join the school community.
