School of Public Service Associate Professor Christopher Courtheyn was an invited speaker at the “Root Down Reach Out Nonviolence Series” organized by the Compassionate Communities Healthcare Movement.

In the “Skills and Strategies” session on Oct. 22 at the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, Courtheyn performed “We Will Stay If…”, a performance about his experiences as an unarmed bodyguard in Colombia using presence and diplomacy to protect threatened communities in war zones. He shared lessons from his research about solidarity building and strategies for nonviolent transformation to support local movements working for peace.
