On Dec. 22, 2025, Governor Brad Little announced two additional paid holidays for state employees – Dec. 24 and 26. These additional holidays apply to 2025 only and will be observed by leave-eligible Boise State employees during winter break.
University offices remain closed during the academic winter break from Dec. 24, 2025 through Jan. 1, 2026. This announcement does not change the closure dates. However, time reporting during the break has been updated to reflect the additional holidays. Please refer to the updated schedule for time entry purposes.
Employees required to work on any days during the winter closure to maintain essential services or complete end-of-year business processes should work with their supervisor. Employees will be advised by their supervisors regarding work expectations.
What employees and supervisors should know
- Salaried, leave-eligible employees who previously submitted vacation leave for Dec. 26 or Dec. 29 will have their time adjusted to holiday time by Human Resources and leave balances will be restored.
- Hourly employees who have already submitted their time cards should use the “edit or review your time card job aid” to update their leave to holiday pay for Dec. 26 and Dec. 29. All updates need to be made by the end of business day Monday, Jan. 5. Supervisors making updates on behalf of their direct reports should follow the “edit or review a timecard for another employee” job aid.
- Classified and professional staff who work on any holiday during the break should refer to payroll guidance for winter break.
- Additional information can be found on the holidays and closures webpage.
The university appreciates the continued commitment and service of campus employees, whose work helps make Boise State an exceptional place to work and learn.
