Margaret Sass, a lecturer in the School for the Digital Future, presented “AI, Apps and Accountability: Redefining Teamwork for a Virtual World” at the Online Learning Consortium Innovate 2026 Conference on March 3.
The session examined how teamwork has evolved in hybrid and remote environments and how artificial intelligence is reshaping collaboration, communication and accountability. Participants explored key questions about AI’s impact on productivity, critical thinking and team effectiveness in today’s digital workplaces.
Drawing from her seven-week project-based course, TEAM 303, Sass highlighted how student design projects develop essential career competencies such as communication, collaboration, adaptability, leadership, ethical reasoning and digital fluency. Sass emphasized that while generative AI can support brainstorming, planning and workflow efficiency, strong teams still depend on clear roles, intentional communication and human-centered accountability.
