Sandi Gregory, business operations manager for the Division of Research and Economic Development, will be a featured presenter at the upcoming Society of Research Administrators International virtual conference later this month.

Gregory was selected to lead a professional development session on April 22 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time, titled “Let Excel Do the Heavy Lifting,” where she will share her expertise in streamlining the complex financial reporting that keeps research moving forward.

Gregory said she sees this as more than a presentation. “Presenting at the SRAI Virtual RA Conference is a huge milestone in my career,” she said. “I am eager to contribute to the field of research administration and use this opportunity to develop my skills as a presenter for future events.”

While the public often sees the results of successful research, a large amount of behind-the-scenes work is required to manage it. Gregory’s presentation focuses on empowering the administrative staff who handle these high-volume tasks. She will demonstrate how to move beyond manual data entry by using advanced Excel automation to transform raw system data into clear, accurate status reports for principal investigators.

By sharing these professional management strategies on a national stage, Gregory is highlighting the division’s commitment to operational excellence. Her session will focus on:

  • Efficiency: Replacing repetitive manual tasks with sustainable, automated workflows.
  • Precision: Using sophisticated formulas to reduce the risk of human error in financial reporting.
  • Professional leadership: Sharing best practice methods that help research administrators nationwide work more effectively.

Please join us in celebrating Sandi’s achievement and her role in representing the university’s expertise within the international research community.
