The U.S. Department of Justice recently announced it has extended the compliance deadline for the ADA Title II digital accessibility regulations. The new deadline is April 24, 2027, extending the original deadline of April 24, 2026.
While this extension provides additional time, no other aspects of the rule have changed. The regulation still requires that the university’s web content and mobile applications, including digital course content, meet the required digital accessibility standards. Work toward digital accessibility compliance at Boise State will continue as planned.
“We do not view the Title II deadline extension as a reason to slow down or stop our progress,” Assistant Vice President for Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer Danielle Berish said. “Instead, this additional time allows us to further advance our implementation efforts and ensure a more comprehensive approach to meeting these requirements.”
The university has many resources in place to help faculty and staff ensure their content is accessible.
