Sawtooth Writing Retreat accepting applications for 2026

The 2026 Sawtooth Writing Retreat is now accepting applications. Set for Sept. 23-28, the retreat will feature returning authors Kim Cross and Paul Bogard, alongside Boise State faculty members Anna Caritj and Matthew Denton-Edmundson. This year, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Mark Warren will join the faculty.

The retreat is designed for students, adults, emerging and mid-career writers who wish to elevate their writing skills and connect with a community of serious writers a secluded setting.

This year’s retreat will feature a conversation with Warren, who won a Pulitzer Prize for his piece “A Death in Alabama,” featured in Esquire. There will also be an evening of star-gazing with professional telescopes operated by experienced astronomers.
