Architectural and Engineering Services is the Boise State department responsible for the design, engineering and implementation of all construction and renovation work on campus. Because the prescribed process for projects of all sizes is the same, this has historically been cumbersome and costly for smaller projects.
In an effort to remove some of this administrative burden from these projects, the department is launching the Special Projects program.
What is a Special Project?
- Limited scope
- Under $200,000 in construction cost
- Must be fully funded
- Straightforward enough to take advantage of the process efficiencies
- Typically intended for Public Works, but can also handle more complex deferred maintenance work
- Also includes departmental relocations

- Quality oversight using Architectural and Engineering Services expertise
Lee Keily, a project manager who has helped with relocations for many campus groups over the years, is leading the Special Projects program and will be the point of contact for project management and execution.
Each project request will be evaluated to see whether it can most efficiently be accomplished through Special Projects or the traditional project processes. Architectural and Engineering Services anticipates there will be adjustments to the program as it is established and they look forward to the campus’s collaboration and feedback.
