SportsIM 350: Beyond the Game introduces students to Name, Image and Likeness; AI; digital identity and emerging issues in sport through a new set of interactive learning tools.
At the center of the course is an interactive open educational resource co-authored by Lecturer Margaret Sass and Mary James. Designed to move beyond a traditional online textbook, the open educational resource combines course content with AI-based activities, reflection prompts, real-world scenarios and opportunities for students to apply concepts to digital identity, personal branding, ethics, transparency and decision-making. The open format also allows the resource to remain accessible and evolve as AI and NIL practices continue to change.
Extending the open educational resource is the AI & NIL Explorer app, created by Margaret Sass, which gives students an unusual, hands-on way to engage with the course material. Using the app, students move through interactive learning experiences, explore scenarios and track their progress.
By connecting an interactive open educational resource with an educational app, SportsIM 350: Beyond the Game blends experiential learning and emerging technology to give students practical opportunities to explore the rapidly changing relationship between AI, identity and NIL.
