Application Deadlines

Applications and official transcripts are due September 1 and AGNP courses begin in January (spring semester).

Application Instructions

  1. Review the AGNP Application Instructions in the tabs below for detailed program and application requirements.
  2. Submit your Boise State Graduate College Application, the application fee ($65), the names of three references, and upload all required application documents.
  3. Arrange for official transcripts to be sent to Boise State.
  4. Submit the School of Nursing application processing fee via TouchNet  ($20).

HOW TO MONITOR YOUR APPLICATION STATUS: At any stage during the application process, you can log in to your Graduate College application account and check the status of your application and confirm that official transcripts have been received, that all supporting documents have been uploaded, and verify that your references have submitted an evaluation form.

Nursing Experience Requirements and Preferences

At Boise State, we seek highly motivated nurses, who are ready to continue their education and acquire the skills and critical thinking required of nurse practitioners. We are looking for students who are prepared to meet the academic expectations of a professional graduate program and individuals who embrace a collaborative and self-directed educational approach.

Acute Care

Applicants to the Acute Care specialization are required to have one year of direct patient care experience in an ICU/CCU, Emergency Room or similar critical care environment/department with the patient population of interest (adult/gerontology). Waiver of this requirement is reviewed on an individual case basis.

Primary Care

Preference is given to applicants to the Primary Care specialization with a minimum of one year work experience as a registered nurse, performing direct patient care related to the adult population.
