Mission, Vision, and Philosophy of the School of Nursing

Our Nurse Practitioner Students

  • Enter the program with prior direct clinical exposure experience
  • Complete  one year of interdisciplinary training that includes 12 months of intensive didactic coursework prior to entering into the clinical setting
  • Graduates receive a Doctoral degree and are employed in a variety of clinical settings.

The goals of the clinical experience include:

  • Apply didactic knowledge to supervised clinical practice
  • Develop and sharpen clinical problem-solving skills
  • Expand and develop the medical breadth of knowledge
  • Perfect the art of history taking and physical examination skills
  • Sharpen and refine oral presentation and written documentation skills
  • Develop an understanding of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) NP role in healthcare delivery
  • Refine interpersonal skills and professionalism necessary to function as part of a healthcare team
