Lucy Zhao, PhD, MSN, MPAff, RN

Lucy Zhao joined the School of Nursing in 2010.  Prior to joining the School of Nursing, she worked as an RN in the acute care hospitals in Texas.  Her clinical expertise is nursing care for adult medical-surgical patients and community health nursing.  Zhao is interested in nursing education and health promotion.   Currently, she teaches community and population health nursing.   She incorporates her clinical expertise and evidenced-based practice into clinical learning experiences for undergraduate nursing students.

Dr. Zhao received Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of Kansas.  She first received her associate nursing degree from Austin Community College and her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas at Austin.  She also received a Master of Public Affairs degree from the University of Texas at Austin.  Her research interests include aging, gerontology and health promotion.  She is a member of the National League for Nursing and the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International.
