FNP Track Lead, Clinical Assistant Professor
Krista Hamilton is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She began her nursing career in 2011 after receiving a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Troy University. As an RN, she cared for patients on medical-surgical, pediatric, postpartum, and psychiatric floors at urban and rural hospitals in Alabama. She currently practices as a nurse practitioner at a rural family medicine clinic in Greenville, IL, providing primary and walk-in care across the lifespan. She is also a member of the Bond County, IL board of public health.
Hamilton previously served as biology faculty at Greenville University and nursing faculty at Troy University and St. John’s College.
Hamilton received a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Troy University in 2020 and completed additional graduate coursework in basic medical sciences at the University of South Alabama. Her doctoral scholarly project identified factors affecting nurse practitioners’ implementation of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. She has experience in laboratory research and enjoys helping students connect basic science concepts to practice in academic and clinical settings.
