My name is Mirella V. Brooks. Currently, I am working as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse/Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in nephrology in Kapolei, Hawaii. My research interests are chronic illness management, genetics and genomics. My previous nursing experience consists of 25 years as a registered nurse in the areas of Intensive Care Nursing, Cardiac Care, Emergency and Trauma Nursing, Hospice Care, Organ and Tissue Donation and Nursing Research. I was born and raised in New York City. I am married; enjoy gardening, traveling, scuba diving and tennis.

I received an Associate Degree in Nursing from Manhattan Community College in New York City, New York. I then attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa for my Bachelors, Masters and PhD.

Professionally, I have 18 year’s experience of online teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. I enjoyed online learning as well as teaching. I look forward to learning along with you.
