Clinical Assistant Professor
Stephanie Chlosta has spent more than three decades caring for patients while shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. She began her healthcare career as a respiratory therapist in 1992 before becoming a registered nurse and going on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing, with a specialization in Nursing Education, from Wheeling Jesuit University.
Most recently, Stephanie served as a Senior Clinical Professional Development Specialist at
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Mercy. She led educational initiatives for orthopedic, trauma, burn, cardiothoracic, surgical, and urology nursing teams, and she coordinated nurse residency programs, mentored graduate nursing students, and collaborated with clinical leaders to advance evidence-based practice and improve patient outcomes. She also spent five years in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, and she has served as an adjunct clinical instructor for both the UPMC Mercy School of Nursing and La Roche University.
Stephanie’s professional accomplishments include receiving the DAISY Award, winning the Southwestern Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders Poster Award, presenting at regional and national conferences, and being recognized as a Cameo of Caring Advanced Practice Award nominee.
Beyond healthcare, Stephanie’s greatest joy is spending time with her two beautiful adult daughters, Brianna and Sophia. Stephanie is always willing to try something new, learn something unexpected, and inspire others to do the same (when her daughters were young, she surprised herself by taking up Irish dance!). Her latest adventure brought her across the country to try nursing education in the university setting. Stephanie believes education is most powerful when it inspires curiosity, confidence, and lifelong learning. She strives to create supportive learning environments where students feel challenged, valued, and empowered to become exceptional nurses.
