Suzan Kardong-Edgren<\/strong>, the Jody DeMeyer Endowed Chair in Nursing, presented at several conferences this past summer.<\/p>\n

In May, Kardong-Edgren traveled to Oklahoma City to give the keynote address at the Oklahoma Workforce Development Conference. She addressed the state of science and simulation and briefly spoke about writing for publication. She also spoke about writing for publication at the Winter Institute for Simulation Education and Research (WISER) conference in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

In June, Kardong-Edgren attended the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning conference in Las Vegas, where she participated in an intensive pre-conference manuscript review session. The review session placed authors of research articles into small groups allowing them the opportunity to scrutinize their writing under the personal direction of an experienced publisher.<\/p>\n

In late July, Kardong-Edgren traveled to Cork, Ireland to attend the annual International Academy of Nursing Editors (INANE) publishing conference. INANE\u2019s mission is to promote best practices in the publishing of nursing journals, books and web-based literature.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most interesting piece of information I learned at the INANE conference was that now authors can obtain a personal digital object identifier (DOI) through a service called Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID),\u201d said Kardong-Edgren. ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that is unique for each researcher, and allows integration of manuscript and grant submissions, and supports automated linkages between individuals and their professional activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI highly recommend that authors take advantage of this great opportunity,\u201d added Kardong-Edgren.<\/p>\n
