The turbulent future of health care in America and the implications to this \u201cmost intimate of human services\u201d will be the keynote topic of the 2013 Friends of Nursing Gala at Boise State University on Nov. 7.<\/p>\n
Patrick G. Hays will deliver the keynote address at the annual event. Hays has 35 years of health care executive experience as the founder of Sutter Health, one of the nation\u2019s top integrated health systems, and as the former president and CEO of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. Hays believes health care in America is \u201cin the midst of some dangerous whitewater.\u201d In his talk, he\u2019ll examine what it will take to \u201cget past the rapids and into calm waters.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to Hays, the evening will feature Rodney Rieder, president of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, and Chris Roth, CEO of St. Luke\u2019s Regional Medical Center, Treasure Valley, who will discuss the role of collaboration between community hospitals and Boise State\u2019s School of Nursing for the benefit of health care in the Treasure Valley and other Idaho communities.<\/p>\n
The seventh annual \u201cA Night for Nursing Excellence\u201d Gala runs from 6-9 p.m. in the Stueckle Sky Center at Boise State. The event, which benefits Boise State\u2019s School of Nursing, is hosted by the Friends of Nursing, a volunteer group of community members established to support excellence in nursing education at Boise State. Board membership includes registered nurses, physicians, key hospital administrators, proactive leaders in professional organizations and others.<\/p>\n
Cost is $150 for an individual, $1,200 for a table of eight and $1,500 for a table of 10. Parking will be provided in the west side of the Bronco Stadium parking lot.<\/p>\n
