{"id":38491,"date":"2013-10-30T11:07:20","date_gmt":"2013-10-30T17:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hs.boisestate.edu\/?p=38491"},"modified":"2013-10-30T11:07:20","modified_gmt":"2013-10-30T17:07:20","slug":"homecoming-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/nursing\/2013\/10\/30\/homecoming-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Award-Winning Homecoming Floats Built by College of Health Sciences\u2019 Student Organizations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Student Association of Radiologic Technologists (SART) and the Student Nurses Association (SNA) built award-winning floats for the 2013 Boise State University homecoming parade. Both student organizations compete each year in the parade\u2019s float competition and both often win awards for their work.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-image wp-image--no-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/109\/2013\/10\/2013-Homecoming-1-300x179.jpg\" alt=\"SART Homecoming float\" width=\"300\" height=\"179\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-38511\" \/><\/figure><p>SART won the most creative float award. Thirty students participated in building and walking in the parade. The float was decorated with the theme of \u201cBury the Wolf Pack,\u201d which included a Boise State football player with his valiant steed &#8211; a miniature pony that SART incorporates into its float design each year &#8211; keeping a scary wolf at bay within the graveyard scene. SART added a smoke machine and a strobe light coming from the wolf\u2019s grave to add an enhanced visual effect. The float displayed slogans, such as \u201cZap the Wolf pack,\u201d \u201cBury the Wolf pack\u201d and \u201cRadiate the Wolves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>SNA won the Vice President\u2019s Award for their themed float \u201cNumb the Nevada Wolfpack.\u201d The float featured nursing students in scrubs or SNA t-shirts holding large paper syringes over a figure with a wolf mask, a Bronco figure in front with a large paper syringe and a huge paper nurse&#8217;s hat on top of the truck that pulled the trailer. The team that rode or walked along the float consisted of Brianne Baer, SNA vice president, who was dressed in an inflatable horse costume; Shantyl Betty, SNA volunteer coordinator; Caitlyn Bevans, SNA newsletter editor; Marty Downey, SNA faculty advisor; Shayla Ritchie, Kristen Simonson and Mandy Topangco, members of the float committee; Darli Aung, former SNA Historian; and Dan Nguyen, former SNA webmaster.
