Fall 2017 Testing Center Changes

Proctored Blackboard exams will no longer require passwords for the majority of test takers. Instead, exams scheduled with the testing center will be locked down so that only computers located inside the Testing Center or Educational Access Center may be used. By removing the need for passwords, test setup and coordination processes for both instructors and Testing Center staff are more simple and reliable.

The change will have no impact on students who are taking proctored exams. Faculty, however, will need to select different settings when creating proctored exams in Blackboard. The Testing Center and OIT will be offering 1:1 consultations to assist faculty with learning these new settings. Visit the Testing Center website to find more information or to schedule a consultation.

Relatedly, the Testing Center has formally vetted and identified Proctor U as Boise State’s preferred remote proctoring software.  This evaluation is meant to assure our academic community that there are ongoing processes in place to ensuring quality control for proctored exams. Also, with Proctor U, the Testing Center was able to negotiate lower pricing for students who need remote proctoring services.  For more information please email the Testing Center at TestingCenter@boisestate.edu.
