Accessing the HR System

To sign in to the HR System you must first do one of the following:

  • Be physically on campus (either on a desktop or kiosk computer, or a mobile device connected to eduroam).
  • OR connect to Boise State’s VPN.

If you are on campus

Desktop or kiosk computers that are hard-wired to the network, require no additional security. Sign in to the HR System as you normally do.

Mobile devices (such as phones, tablets, or laptops not hard-wired to the network) must be connected to the eduroam wireless network. Once connected to eduroam you may sign in to the HR System as usual.

If you are off campus

You must first connect to Boise State’s Virtual Private Network before logging into the HR System. The VPN allows you to securely connect to Boise State’s network as if you were on campus.

Reminder: When you log in to VPN you will be asked to two-factor authenticate using Duo Security.

Once you have connected to VPN, you may sign in to the HR System.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I being asked to do this?

Additional Security Required

The HR System contains highly sensitive data so the university must do everything we can do protect it. This means connecting to VPN from off-campus locations prior to signing in to the HR System.

Is this change permanent?

Temporary Requirement

No, this is not a permanent change. Once the HCM Cloud project goes live, you will no longer need to use VPN to access the HR System.

If I am on campus, can I connect to Bronco-Guest instead of eduroam?

Wireless Networks On Campus

Connecting to Bronco-Guest before signing in to the HR System is not recommended. As a reminder, Bronco-Guest is not a secure wireless network and is intended for short-term internet access for guests of the University. Please connect to the eduroam network before accessing the HR System.

What if I am unable to sign in to the HR System to report my time?

Time Reporting Requirements

If you are unable to sign in to the HR System using the directions above, please work with your supervisor to make sure your leave or hours worked are reported by the payroll deadline.
