The following represent a few of the projects recently completed by the Project Management Office:
Blackboard SaaS (Software as a Service)
“Self-hosting” our Blackboard LMS environment was an archaic service model, and presented an endless onslaught of challenges. Problems impacted students and faculty in the form of unplanned outages and unresolved issues.
Whether playing “whack-a-mole” with mysterious database issues to falling far behind the new features and fixes, it was apparent the Office of Information Technology needed to upgrade to Blackboard’s SaaS (Software as a Service) offering.
The Blackboard SaaS update was implemented in December 2018.
Campus Rec Database
The database previously used by Campus Recreation for point of sale, building access, rentals, inventory, and tracking was no longer serving business needs. It was outdated, and support for the product was limited.
A replacement product was identified, and implemented in January 2019.
This new product also features a new mobile app, coming soon. The mobile app will provide features allowing members to pay fees through their smartphone, check in to the facility (no need to show ID card), and view Rec Center class and event schedules.
Intent to Enroll
Undergraduate Admissions desired a better process for new Broncos to submit their intent to attend Boise State.
The new Intent to Enroll application provides a simple form and payment interface in myBoiseState, while also guiding new students to their next step of registering for BroncoVenture orientation.
This integration was implemented in January 2019.
