Google+ (Google’s Social Network) Shutting Down in April

Google announced in December 2018 that the consumer version of Google+ will be shutting down this April. Google+ is Google’s version of a social network and was launched in 2011 to challenge other networks such as Facebook and Twitter. (Note: This shutdown applies only to Google+ accounts. All other Google/Gmail/G Suite accounts are unaffected and remain fully operational.)

On April 2, 2019, Google will begin deleting content from consumer accounts. If you are a Google+ user, consider downloading your data before this date.

To review the timeline for the Google+ shutdown, visit Google’s support page. There’s also a helpful page answering frequently asked questions.

If you have questions about Google+ or need assistance downloading your data, please contact the Help Desk at (208) 426-4357, email at, or chat online.
