Understand Your Responsibilities When Using Boise State’s VPN

Keep your data safe and secure

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) reminds all faculty and staff to read, understand, and follow the University’s Remote Access Policy when connecting to the Boise State VPN service.

You are responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of Boise State’s data while working remotely.

The Remote Access Policy (Policy 8130) details the requirements for remote access to Boise State computing resources and serves to minimize potential exposure to Boise State from damages caused by unauthorized use, including loss of protected data, intellectual property and harm to critical university systems.

Connecting to Boise State’s VPN provides a virtual seat on the university’s network, as though an employee is sitting in front of their computer at work. Whether browsing the web, clicking on email attachments, or responding to texts, everyone is encouraged to practice the same safe computing habits and vigilance as they would while on the university campus.

All faculty and staff (including active student employees) have access to the Boise State VPN service. Information about installing and using VPN is available on our website.

For questions or additional information about Boise State’s VPN service, contact the Help Desk at (208) 426-4357 or helpdesk@boisestate.edu.
