After you graduate or are no longer actively enrolled at Boise State, you will continue to have access to your BroncoMail and Student Center accounts for one year.
After a year, access to your account will expire and all emails and files stored in your account will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Important!
You will receive a BroncoMail Account Inactivation email reminder 30 days before your access expires. Be sure to review the email carefully, as it includes your account expiration date.
Before your access expires
Take some time to save and transfer any important information to a personal account. This includes:
- Emails and files: Save any important emails or files stored in Google Drive, or use Google Takeout (see instructions below) to export or transfer your data to a personal account.
- Contacts: Export any contacts you would like to keep.
- Photos: Download photos you want to save.
- YouTube: Update the email address associated with your YouTube account.
- Unofficial transcript: Download a copy of your unofficial transcript for your records. Once your account expires, you will need to contact the Registrar’s Office to request transcripts.
- Linked accounts: Review any banking, healthcare, utilities, social media, or subscription accounts associated with your Boise State email and update them to a personal email address. Some additional accounts to review include:
Health Services patient portal
Rec Center
Career Services / Handshake
Alumni Association
How to use Google Takeout
Use Google Takeout to export your data or transfer your information to a personal account. Get started by selecting the option that is right for you.
Note: Contacts and photos are not exported or transferred by Takeout. Follow the instructions above to save contacts and photos.
Export and download your data
- Make sure you are first logged in to your student account, then navigate to Google Takeout.
(If you see a message that this service is unavailable or disabled, verify you are logged in to your student account.) - Select the data you want to export.
- Choose your archive type, file size, and how you want to receive the download link.
- Click Create export. Google will email you a link when the export is ready, which can take minutes to hours.
Transfer information to a personal Google account
Before you begin, make sure your personal Google account has enough storage to hold everything you’re copying.
- Make sure you are first logged in to your student account, then navigate to Google Takeout Transfer.
(If you see a message that your account is not authorized to use Takeout, verify you are logged in to your student account.) - Follow the prompts to verify your personal account. A confirmation code will be sent to your personal Gmail.
- Select what content you want to copy to your personal account – Drive (only files you own) and/or Gmail (all emails).
- Click Start Transfer to begin the process. You may see a default message that the transfer will take up to 7 days. The transfer will depend on your data volume, but should only take minutes to hours.
