{"id":2000013836,"date":"2025-08-17T15:16:57","date_gmt":"2025-08-17T21:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/oit\/?p=2000013836"},"modified":"2025-08-27T09:32:26","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T15:32:26","slug":"technology-checkout-from-laptops-to-green-screens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/oit\/2025\/08\/17\/technology-checkout-from-laptops-to-green-screens\/","title":{"rendered":"Technology checkout from laptops to green screens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/oit\/zone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Zone in the Interactive Learning Center<\/a> offers a wide array of devices available to students for short-term use, helping bridge access to essential technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students may check out high-demand technology equipment, including laptops, iPads, webcams, mobile video kits, graphing and scientific calculators, green screens, and presentation clickers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-funded-by-student-fees\">Funded by student fees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Available devices are purchased and maintained using student technology fees, so checkout service for most technology is limited to currently enrolled university students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-exceptions-for-faculty-and-staff\">Exceptions for faculty and staff<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Current faculty and staff may check out the following devices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Classroom projector cart<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DVD\/VCR player<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PA system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mobile computer lab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faculty and staff who need to access to additional technology devices should work with their department or college, or contact the Help Desk at (208) 426-4357 or helpdesk@boisestate.edu to learn about other available options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-balancing-access-with-responsibility\">Balancing access with responsibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-duration-limits\">Duration limits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most items can be checked out for up to 48 hours. Devices borrowed on Thursdays or Fridays are due the following Monday (or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-no-renewals\">No renewals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Devices cannot be renewed; a 24-hour waiting period applies before checking out another item.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-one-at-a-time\">One at a time<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only one item may be checked out at a time, except for cameras paired with a tripod, or projectors with screens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-waiting-period\">Waiting Period<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 24-hour waiting period applies before users can check out or reserve another time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-late-lost-or-damaged-items\">Late, Lost, or Damaged Items<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-late-returns\">Late returns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A reminder email is sent two hours before and after the due time; daily follow-ups continue for up to seven days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At seven days overdue, a hold equivalent to the equipment\u2019s value is placed on the borrowers university account. After 14 days, the item is reported to the Boise Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-damage-or-loss\">Damage or Loss<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Borrowers are responsible for all damages or losses and may face charges or holds until repair or replacement costs are resolved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-support-and-service-when-you-need-it\">Support and service when you need it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By offering technology on demand, the Office of Information Technology reduces barriers for students who may not own specialized equipment.
