New and improved online proctoring is here! Honorlock is Boise State’s campus-supported virtual proctoring solution, replacing ProctorU.<\/strong> Faculty currently using ProctorU or another proctoring tool are encouraged to begin using Honorlock during the Fall 2026 semester. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honorlock offers benefits for both faculty and students: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No cost to students.<\/strong> While other proctoring tools may incur additional fees, Honorlock is fully university-supported and currently free to students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cross-platform compatibility. <\/strong>Honorlock works with Canvas, ALEKS, WebAssign, Pearson, and others to streamline exams no matter where course content is delivered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHaving sat on both sides of the online proctoring fence, both as a student and as an exam administrator, I am beyond thrilled about our transition to Honorlock because it fundamentally improves the experience for both roles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a student perspective, the start of the exam friction is gone. We’ve all dealt with the “access code” error that blocked students from taking an exam. It caused immediate panic before the exam even started, resulting in frantic calls and emails to instructors and the OIT Help Desk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an exam administrator, I’m looking forward to how much smarter and efficient the platform is. HonorLock combines AI monitoring to watch for suspicious behavior that alerts live proctors to pop-in when needed, which drastically reduces the burden of sifting through hours of false-positive footage. Honorlock also has a feature called search-and-destroy that scans the internet to locate and request the removal of leaked exam content. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
