Defining roles

Innovation is change-making that starts with a new idea, no matter how small. Innovators take risks, try things out, fail and try again.

Digital innovation is change-making for a new world, using emerging technologies to speed up the pace of change and extend its reach.

So what’s the difference between UX and product design? And which one is right for you and your career aspirations?

Digital product design involves end-to-end product thinking, strategy and business alignment. It encompasses the design of digital products or services as a whole, including not only the user interface (UI and UX) but also the overall product strategy, functionality and features.

Digital product design includes designing and developing digital products or services, including websites, mobile applications, software and other digital platforms. It involves creating a product that meets the needs and goals of users, while also achieving the objectives of the business or organization.

As a digital product designer, you’ll work closely with product managers, developers and other stakeholders to define the product vision, develop product strategy and design product features, functionality and user experience.

This involves researching and understanding target users, defining the user journey and user flows, creating wireframes and prototypes and testing and iterating on the design based on user feedback.

UX design focuses on research, usability and user flow and includes UI design, which is the process of designing visual and interactive elements of a digital product or service, including mobile applications, websites and software interfaces.

UX design is the process of designing the overall experience of using a digital product or service, including a focus on the needs and goals of users and designing the product to meet those needs and achieve those goals.

As a UX designer, you’ll research and understand users, create wireframes and prototypes and test and iterate on the design based on user feedback.
