When it comes to higher education and time management, AG Greenhill is in a league of his own.
“I have a crazy busy life,” he said. “Some would even call it chaotic.”
While working full-time as a regional manager of talent for the Air Force, Greenhill is also part-time pastor for two churches — Epic Church Buffalo in New York, and Shoreline Church in Destin, Florida.
He and his wife, Chelsea, have four children — Jayana (16), Ayla (8), Kaleo (5) and Coast (2) — and a foster child, Ruba (16). Greenhill also helps coach Jayana’s high school flag football team.
While making time for that full plate of commitments, Greenhill returned to college and graduated from Boise State University’s online Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Professional Studies program in May 2026. It is his seventh college degree.
“For the Air Force, education is looked highly upon for promotions,” he said. “I wanted to get the experience of a different degree program and some of the leadership certificates Boise State offers. I got the Applied Leadership certificate.
“If the Air Force is going to pay for it, I’m going to take advantage of everything I can. It’s free education.”
Greenhill lived in Vancouver, Washington, when he enrolled at Boise State the first time in 2019. He now lives in East Amherst, New York.
“It was the closest brick-and-mortar school that I wanted to attend and had a good online degree program,” he said. “I wanted to have a degree on my resume from a recognizable school.”
The online format worked out well for Greenhill once he adjusted to the two-hour time difference between Eastern and Mountain time.
“It made it really simple,” he said. “Boise State does a really good job of the program almost being hybrid because there is video, not just discussion posts, which was my past experience, as opposed to interacting with other students.
“At Boise State, you’re interacting with students and instructors throughout the entire course. I really appreciated that aspect of the program.”
Lifelong learner
Greenhill is from South Weber, Utah, north of Salt Lake City. He hoped to play college football before an injury derailed his plans.
“My dad is a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel,” he said. “He was a big factor in that decision. I only planned on doing four years. My dream was being quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Seventeen years later, here I am in the Air Force.
“I’m 36 years old now. I will retire from the Air Force in three years. To have another degree on my resume for when I go to the civilian sector helps me do whatever I want to do.”
Speaking of degrees, Greenhill has added a lot to his resume. He earned associate degrees in foods, nutrition and wellness studies from Troy University and criminal justice and administration from Park University in 2015. He also earned associate degrees in avionics maintenance technology in 2016 and human resource management in 2020 from Community College of the Air Force.
In addition, Greenhill added bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice and administration from Park University in 2019 and business administration in management from Boise State in 2021. Also in 2021, he received a certificate in business from Harvard University.
“I have been able to apply what I’ve learned in the interdisciplinary professional studies program to my career,” he said. “It was often something that I already do, but the program put a name or title to the way I had already been leading, like adaptive leadership.”
Greenhill didn’t have a favorite course in the online Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Professional Studies curriculum, but adjunct instructor Blanche Wallace stood out to him.
“I loved every course where she was my instructor,” he said. “She would engage and ask questions to get students thinking about how to answer from a different perspective. I’m big on that. I loved Foundations of Leadership. It’s information I apply every single day as a senior non-commissioned officer in the Air Force.”
Going strong
Greenhill didn’t walk at the commencement ceremony, but degree number seven is extra special for him and his family.
“I am one of five kids,” he said. “My mom, who lives in Granbury, Texas, has a wall where all of us kids have our high school graduation and college graduation pictures.
“I’ve never sent her a college one, but I’m going to send her one for this degree. She’s very excited. Everyone else has two pictures; I have one.”
So, is Greenhill finished with higher education now? Not a chance.
“I’m going to pursue a master’s degree in leadership,” he said. “I might also pursue a master’s in business after I get my leadership master’s. It opens up avenues for different opportunities to go in different directions.
“I have had a few job offers from Amazon, where I have a friend who is C-suite here in New York. I might go into full-time ministry. I’m not sure what I’m going to do when I grow up. I am going to be in some type of upper management leadership somewhere based on the offers I’ve got and the possibilities I have.”
And although he had to give up his dream of quarterbacking for the Denver Broncos, Greenhill is a proud Boise State Bronco.
“The biggest thing as an online student is to immerse yourself into the program, and make sure you’re fully engaged in a way you can apply it to your life,” he said. “The value and the lessons you learn throughout — especially on the leadership side — are invaluable. It’s not just for checking a box; it actually applies to your life.”
