Boise State’s Bachelor of Arts in Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Board of Accreditation. Our campus-based program has been accredited since 1974.
Accreditation by CSWE’s Board of Accreditation indicates that an undergraduate or graduate social work program meets or exceeds quality standards assessed through a peer review process. Accredited programs have the necessary resources to achieve their mission and goals, and the Board of Accreditation has verified their compliance with all sections of the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.
CSWE accreditation applies to all program locations and delivery methods. It provides reasonable assurance of program quality and confirms that graduates meet established competency standards.

Yes, all coursework is delivered 100% online. However, you’ll complete in-person field work in your local community — no campus visits are required.
Can I complete my field work where I live?
Yes. You’ll complete your field placement in your local area, with guidance and support from Boise State’s dedicated team of field coordinators.
Do employers respect an online degree?
Employers’ attitudes toward online degrees are also shifting, especially when that degree comes from a reputable institution. The level of education and time spent earning your degree is the same regardless of in-person status. And your Boise State University diploma doesn’t list whether the degree was earned online.
What types of careers can I pursue with a BSW?
Graduates of the BSW Online program may go on to seek entry to mid-level positions in both clinical and non-clinical settings. Examples of possible career opportunities include:

How much does the program cost?
Tuition is $445 per credit with no out-of-state tuition or online fees. Financial aid and payment plans are available.
When can I start the BSW program?
We offer spring, summer and fall start dates. It is important to submit all application materials prior to the application deadlines. To be considered for admission, you must meet the minimum GPA requirements and have completed — or be in the process of completing — 24 credits of prerequisite coursework.
