Whether you enter the workforce directly or go on to earn a bachelor’s degree, Boise State’s online associate degree equips you with the skills you need for long-term success. With 100% online courses, you can complete your degree at a full-time or part-time pace — whichever works best for your schedule.

Boise State’s online Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) degrees do not include a specific emphasis or major area of study, giving you the flexibility to explore your interests while building a strong educational foundation. Generally, the Associate of Arts is best suited for students pursuing fields in the humanities, social sciences, communication or education, while the Associate of Science is designed for students interested in science, technology, mathematics, health-related or technical disciplines. Both pathways prepare you to seamlessly continue toward a bachelor’s degree at Boise State.

The online associate degree consists of 60 credits: 37 credits of University Foundations and 23 credits of electives. Complete your elective requirements by choosing pathways that fit your interests and career goals. Pathways include certificates and bachelor’s degree preparation courses to help you seamlessly transition into a career or a bachelor’s degree at Boise State.

Classes and Scheduling

The online Associate of Science and the Associate of Arts are a 60-credit program that includes the following:

  • Electives – 23 credits
  • University Foundations Courses – 37 credits. These general education credits may be met through transfer coursework or will be incorporated into your degree plan.

Official course descriptions and degree plans are published on the undergraduate catalog website.

To find a course, click the “Courses” tab and select the drop-down list that aligns with your desired course prefix (e.g. UF 202). You may also use the search bar to search for the course prefix.

Career Opportunities

When you earn an associate degree, you will have the foundation to either confidently enter today’s job market or begin a bachelor’s degree completion program at Boise State. The associate degree curriculum helps you establish the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in your professional and academic career.
