Strategic Plan

To ensure that we are aligned with and supporting the university’s strategic plan, Blueprint for Success, Campus Operations has structured our three year plan to meet the objectives of each pillar.

Campus Operations vision, mission and guiding principles

Vision: An ideal campus setting to live, learn, work and connect.

Mission: Campus Operations serves Boise State University by ensuring a functional, sustainable and well-maintained physical infrastructure; a secure and welcoming campus environment and experience; and healthy and safe working/learning conditions.

Goal 1: Improve Educational Access and Student Success

  • Ensure the Campus Master Plan is aligned with Blueprint for Success and the forthcoming enrollment plan by reviewing and reporting annually
  • Integrate the project rubric with the Blueprint for Success to ensure capital project prioritization is aligned
  • Finalize plans and approach for a new student housing project, Riverfront Hall and Liberal Arts refreshes, and a parking deck and student welcome center
  • Develop a student employment plan to ensure student careers and learning opportunities are available in campus operations
  • Create a new class of eligibility for the tuition/fee waivers or reductions for student employees who fill strategic employment needs
  • Incorporate learning opportunities for students into the design of new facilities and renovations
  • Develop university classroom standards that support multiple modes of learning

Goal 2: Innovation for Institutional Impact

  • Expand the adoption of innovative processes and/or reduce or consolidate software platforms to ensure longevity and alignment with other university systems
  • Develop specific rewards or incentives for innovation at all levels
  • Develop departmental and/or individual continuing education plans

Goal 3: Advance Research and Creative Activity

  • Build out unfinished space in Micron Center for Materials Research into functioning core labs
  • Implement integrated planning to ensure space and facilities are available to support new and growing research and academic programming
  • Implement central supply store to support research needs
  • Finalize and implement plans for a contractor safety checklist and appropriate background checks

Goal 4: Foster Thriving Community

  • Develop a coordinated community engagement and planning platform with local agencies, businesses, industries and neighborhoods
  • Ensure that the campus infrastructure creates a positive environment for all users
  • Develop an employee recognition program in each department of Campus Operations
  • Finalize policy for a university workforce housing program focused on meeting strategic needs
  • Complete and issue a request for proposals to developers to expand workforce housing
  • Align university rental program with strategic priorities
  • Develop and implement space standards and guidelines that maximize existing and/or new spaces
  • Implement facility design and construction standards that are mindful of total cost of ownership, long term maintenance and renewal. Publish these standards in an accessible, transparent manner
  • Develop a procedure for addressing space assignments found to be misaligned with the guidelines and standards
  • Develop a project implementation framework to deliver complete renovations projects in a timely and efficient manner
  • Transition from the use of memorandums of agreement for landscape services to a centrally supported model
  • Review, revise or update as needed all Operations related policies and the Operations website to best serve campus into the future
  • Address the programming of phase II of the Leatherman Peak Building
  • Using data from the STARS report, create a campus-wide sustainability action plan
  • Develop a plan to modernize the university’s central heat plant and distribution network
  • Finalize plans to demolish and/or decommission facilities when it would be too costly to renovate them to our standards
  • Finalize planning for University Drive improvements and proceed with phase I of that plan

  • Explore off-campus housing partnerships to address workforce housing needs
  • Implement facility design standards that supports connections and experiences for students, faculty, and staff
